TASCAM IF-DA64
Brian Long
Introduction
The TASCAM IF-DA64 is a professional Dante/AES67 expansion card that adds up to 64 channels of network audio input and 64 channels of network audio output to compatible TASCAM equipment. Dual Gigabit Ethernet ports provide direct connection to Dante infrastructure while supporting redundant or switched network configurations for flexible system design.
Designed for TASCAM products equipped with compatible expansion slots, the IF-DA64 integrates multitrack recorders and digital mixing consoles into large networked audio systems without requiring conventional high-channel-count audio cabling. It is particularly useful for broadcast, live sound, recording, theater, houses of worship, and installed AV systems where Dante provides centralized routing between consoles, stage boxes, recorders, processors, and other networked equipment.

- 64-Channel Dante Expansion Card: Adds high-channel-count Dante network audio connectivity to compatible TASCAM equipment.
- 64 Dante Input Channels: Receives up to 64 channels of audio from a compatible Dante network.
- 64 Dante Output Channels: Sends up to 64 channels of audio from the host device onto a Dante network.
- AES67 Support: Enables interoperability with compatible AES67 network-audio equipment and infrastructure.
- Dual Gigabit Ethernet Ports: PRIMARY and SECONDARY RJ-45 connectors provide professional network connectivity.
- 1000BASE-T Networking: Gigabit Ethernet supports the bandwidth required for high-channel-count uncompressed digital audio.
- Redundant Dante Operation: Primary and secondary ports can connect to separate Dante networks for improved system resilience.
- Switched Network Operation: The two ports can alternatively operate in switched mode when redundant networking is not required.
- Dante Controller Support: Routing, device configuration, subscriptions, and other Dante network functions can be managed using Audinate Dante Controller.
- Automatic Dante Routing Architecture: Dante allows audio channels to be routed between compatible devices without dedicated point-to-point audio cabling.
- High-Channel-Count Recording Applications: Provides an efficient network-audio interface for compatible TASCAM multitrack recorders.
- DA-6400 Compatibility: Adds Dante network audio connectivity to the TASCAM DA-6400 64-track solid-state recorder.
- DA-6400dp Compatibility: Supports the redundant-power version of TASCAM’s DA-6400 multitrack recording platform.
- Sonicview Expansion Option: Compatible Sonicview digital mixing consoles can use the IF-DA64 as an additional Dante expansion interface.
- 64-Channel DA-6400 Dante Workflow: A DA-6400 equipped with the IF-DA64 can transport up to 64 audio channels over Dante using standard network infrastructure.
- Recording-System Cable Reduction: High-channel-count network audio can replace large bundles of conventional analog or digital audio cables.
- Live Sound Integration: Allows compatible recorders and consoles to connect directly with Dante stage boxes and other networked live-sound equipment.
- Broadcast Integration: Dante and AES67 support make the card useful for broadcast facilities using IP-based professional audio routing.
- Installed AV Applications: Suitable for auditoriums, houses of worship, education, performance spaces, and other Dante-equipped installations.
- Recording Studio Applications: Supports multichannel routing between compatible TASCAM recorders, consoles, interfaces, and Dante-enabled studio equipment.
- Networked Multitrack Playback: Recorded multichannel material can be routed from compatible host equipment to Dante consoles, processors, and output devices.
- Internal Expansion-Card Design: Installs directly into a compatible TASCAM expansion slot without requiring an external interface chassis.
- Host-Powered Operation: Receives operating power from the compatible TASCAM host device.
- No Separate AC Adapter Required: Installation does not add another external power supply to the equipment rack.
- Professional System Scalability: Dante routing allows compatible devices to be added or reconfigured as production requirements change.
- Flexible Network Topology: Supports both redundant network infrastructures and simpler switched configurations.
- Ideal for High-Density Audio Transport: Particularly useful where dozens of digital audio channels need to move between rooms, racks, stages, consoles, and recording systems.
